Craftsmanship
ITALIAN TRADITION
MEMORÍ sunglasses are entirely handmade in Italy using traditional methods.
Our vendor partnerships all follow a respectful, responsible, and fair trade model.
We partner with people who have spent their lives specializing their craft. The result is a meticulously made product that preserves the value and heritage of Italy.
WE EXCLUSIVELY USE
CELLULOSE ACETATE
A high quality plastic, based from cotton and wood pulp. Provides richer color hues and greater longevity than standard petrol-based plastics.
ARTISINAL
Mazzucchelli is widely regarded as the producer of the world's richest acetate. A family-owned Italian business, they began producing combs and buttons from horn, bone, and tortoiseshell in 1869. Mazzucchelli is the only acetate used by Memorí.
TUMBLED
Acetate sections of eyewear are tumbled in large wooden barrels with abrasives (usually wood, stone, and oil) of varying textures to sand and smooth acetate over several days.
MALLEABLE
With heat, cellulose acetate is able to be molded to adjust to your features. This means easy adjustments to angle the section that sits behind the ear or next to the temple. Bends without breaking.
WE BELIEVE IN THE LUXURY OF TIME.
Our designs have no seasons. Fine production takes months, and in Italy they do not rush.
